Kpop Friday: Spica’s “You Don’t Love Me”

Sometimes you just need a breakup song with a great pace, dramatic vocals, and a catchy-as-hell melody. Spica’s “You Don’t Love Me” hits all three categories easily–and it is, hands down, one of my favorite kpop girl group songs ever. I mean, it starts off with the (gorgeous) declaration you don’t love me and then launches straight into this:

Today, I’m ready
It’s time to say everything
In the end, it’s a simple story
You don’t love me (x)

The lyrics for this song are a great mix of anger, frustration, and I’m-tired-of-your-shit. The ladies really sell it with their no-holds-barred vocals and the relentless you don’t love me refrain.  There’s no question that this relationship is sunk and it’s all because a distant, calculating man made absolutely no effort to keep it alive.

The retro pin-up girl styling for the MV is a lot of fun, with only a couple minor missteps. I wish I could see the dance in full, but from the parts of it I can see, it looks like it would be a lot of fun live.

Seriously, if you haven’t heard this one already, you should take a moment to give this song a listen. And remember to keep it in your arsenal when you need to get over your own broken heart.
