The first week of 2017 started off interesting, what with some people not showing up to court, others drinking by themselves, and some new ratings highs. I hope your first week has been a bit more even-keeled.
- The Park Geun-hye saga: “1st Impeachment Hearing Ends After 9 Minutes,” “Rise of ‘Candle Citizens’ to reshape democracy in 2017,” “Choi Soon-sil’s Daughter Pleads Total Ignorance,” “Parliament starts debate on constitutional revision,” “Court to face hurdles in impeachment witness questioning,” “Park, Choi deny all charges,” and “Confidante’s daughter refuses to return back home.”
- “When You Are Called ‘the Young Lady’ instead of ‘the Director of the Film.’” An essay about sexism in Korean film/tv production.
- “The rules of drinking alone.” The trend used to be eating alone; now it’s drinking alone.
- “Parents spending roughly a quarter of their income on raising their kids.” I shouldn’t be surprised, and yet I am.
- “KBS, SBS, And More Reveal Their Exciting Plans For New Drama Premieres In 2017.” Which of these shows are you looking forward to?
- “‘Goblin’ Ratings Hits All-Time High As The Plot Thickens.” I suppose that’s pretty good, but compared to the next one…
- “‘Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim’ tops 25% in viewership.” Can’t argue with 25%. They must be doing something good.
- “Missing Nine releases intense new teaser featuring EXO Chanyeol, Jung Kyung Ho, Baek Jin Hee, and more!” and “‘Missing 9’ To Release Special Episode Ahead Of Premiere Date.” I hope this will be good. I’d like to enjoy one of Jung Kyung-ho’s projects again.
- “Nam Joo Hyuk is offered the leading role in an upcoming tVN series.” I’ll be honest, I’ve only read about four volumes of this series, but he would not be my first choice for this role. If he accepts, I hope he does well.
- “Writer Kim Eun Hee Discusses Season 2 Of ‘Signal’ And Its Cast.” For all of you who loved the show.
